Everything You Need To Know For Your Countertop Installation Day

The time has finally come to install your new countertop, and you probably can’t wait to see what your end result will look like. We love that new countertop reveal too! To make sure that we avoid any installation delays and make the day as efficient as possible for you and us, there are just a few things you can do to prepare.

Read on for tips and to-do’s before your new countertop installation.

How To Prepare Before Installation Day

Before you're ready to schedule your installation, it's important that you finalize a few key sections for your space.

1. Natural Stone Selection

We probably don’t need to even mention this one, but your surface selection needs to be finalized before we can schedule your countertop installation date. The surface of your countertop is the heart and soul of your project, so it's absolutely essential that you've picked it out.

2. Faucet and Sink

Your countertop template needs to accommodate your faucet and sink, so you'll want to select them and share their measurements with us before your install date. We do the majority of our cutting before we arrive at your home to minimize the mess, so share these essential measurements with us as soon as you have them. We carry a wide variety of sinks in our warehouse, so you can shop directly with us and we’ll get the accurate measurements ourselves to take one item off your plate.

3. Stovetop Selection

Similar to the sink and faucet, you should select your stovetop and share measurements with our team before your installation.

4. Painting, Concrete, and Tile Work

It's very difficult to complete a countertop installation in a home that's still undergoing painting, concrete, and tile work in the room that's being renovated. Homeowners need to have all of their painting, concrete, and tile work done prior to their countertop installation date.

We’re unable to complete a countertop installation if any of this key work and selections aren't finalized before your installation date. We’ll call you 24 hours before your install to check on all of this information. If anything is still unfinished, we’ll, unfortunately, need to reschedule your installation.

What To Expect After Alpha Arrives On-Site

Our home design and remodeling professionals know that your countertop installation should fit around your life, and not the other way around. On the day of your installation, our team ensures that we stay in touch with you through text messages and phone calls to notify you before we arrive on-site to begin work. We make sure to accommodate your schedule so we can finish your installation at a time that's convenient for you.

When our team arrives at your home to begin the installation, we’ll cover your floors and begin taking out your old countertops unless you've already worked with a contractor to remove them beforehand.

After the demolition is done, it's time for us to bring in your brand new surface. We’ve got the process down to a science, which we begin by setting your new countertop in place. Then, we create nearly invisible seams if your countertop is large and requires more than one piece of stone.

Finally, we finish by setting your sinks into their cutouts, sealing your new surface, and caulking up your new edges. Once your sealant and caulk are completely dry, your new countertop is ready for you to use!

Things You Can Do to Make Installation Day Easy

Let's face it: nobody wants a countertop installation that's slow, time-consuming, and messy. Here are some tips to make your installation go as smoothly as possible:

  • Prepare a meal or two that you can heat up in your microwave while our team is taking care of your installation (or plan ahead to eat out).

  • Clear all items and materials off of your countertops before we arrive on-site and store them safely away to speed up your installation.

  • Remove any delicate and decorative objects from the rooms that our team needs to work in to avoid any accidents, cracks, damages, or spills.

  • Choose a path for our team to use to access the room we’ll be working in. We’ll be in and out a few times during our work, so choose one that is the least disruptive to your family.

  • Take out any drawers from your cabinets.

Remembering to take these simple steps before your installation day will make it easier for our team to complete your installation quickly and with as little inconvenience to your schedule as possible.
